Springfield Virginia (VA) Tablet PC’s – Tablet Personal Computers, Springfield Virginia (VA)
Earlier this year Apple reinvented the world of Tablet PC’s and took the market by storm with its iPad, and because of the increasing need and desire for mobility, it has been a huge success. Even though it has limited capabilities and puts restrictions on the user when it comes to software, those who have one really seem to love it.
With the increasing need for one’s mobility, Tablet PC’s and Netbooks have flooded the market. Here at Geek ABC we strive to provide you with the best information we can to help make your computer and device decisions easier. You can reach us via our website, www.geekabc.com, or give us a call at 1.877.GEEKABC (1.877.433.5222) to schedule an appointment. Tablet PC’s or Tablet Personal Computers have been on the shelves for quite some time but were never able to flood the market like they have today. The term “Tablet PC” was made popular by Microsoft in 2001, but today it pretty much refers to any tablet-sized portable computer, regardless of its OS (operating system).
What makes Tablet PC’s unique is that they are equipped with a touch-screen as their primary input device and what sets the iPad apart from the norm, as far as Tablet PC’s go, is that the touch-screen is finger-driven and has multi-touch capability. Other Tablet PC’s require a stylus or computer specific pen to use the touch-screen. One of the disadvantages to Tablet PC’s is their lack of a physical keyboard, thus requiring them to have an on-screen keyboard which can be slightly more difficult to use, but not as difficult as the netbooks keyboard, in my opinion.
Tablet PC’s and netbooks are both very popular among the users that have them. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Both are light in weight, portable, and fast, and due to their lack of optical drives and have much longer battery lives than their larger, more expensive counterpart, the laptop. The one advantage that netbooks have over tablet pc is that they allow for more content creation whereas the tablet is more for content consumption. If the tablet pc was more user friendly as far as content creation goes, I think it would be a much better option over the netbooks, especially for students who are always on-the-go.
