Washington DC Metropolitan Area Computer Upgrades – PC Upgrades, Washington DC Metropolitan Area

It can be really frustrating trying to work or play a game on a slow or old computer, but before you consider throwing it out the window there may be a few upgrades you can make which could help speed up and make your computer feel newer.  Geek ABC is a local computer and network service and repair company who can help you determine if your computer is worth saving before you spend the money on upgrades or if you should just think about getting a new one all together.  Sometimes upgrading or replacing some of your computer’s hardware can make a world of difference.  Our computer geeks have expertise in many areas and would love to help you salvage what you might consider a lost cause.  We can be reached via our website www.geekabc.com, or give us a call at 1.877.GEEKABC (1.877.433.5222) for more information or to schedule an appointment.  We provide mobile, onsite computer service and repair for businesses and residents throughout the Washington DC metro area.

The first thing that you should consider upgrading is your computers memory or RAM (Random Access Memory).  Adding more RAM is one of the cheapest upgrades you can make that will give you immediate and noticeable results.  It will help to illuminate those nasty hang-ups and give you faster response times.

The next thing to consider is upgrading and adding extra hard drive space.  This will not only increase your speed but it will give you extra space for storage.  You can get either an external hard drive or install an internal one.

If you want to start playing newer games on your older PC, not only should you consider upgrading and adding more RAM but you should look in to a new graphics or video card.  PCI express graphics cards are great for improving your computers speed and resolution, but you have to make sure that anything you want to add on to your computer is compatible with your motherboard.  Older motherboards most likely won’t support newer peripherals.

With the advancements in technology today, most computers have a lifespan of about 4 years, but you don’t necessarily have to always go out and purchase a new one.  There are ways that you can expand the life of your current computer.  If you do have to go out and purchase a new computer, data transfer is one of our specialties and we would be more than happy to help you with that.  Again, we can be reached via our website www.geekabc.com, or give us a call at 1.877.GEEKABC (1.877.433.5222) for more information or to schedule an appointment.
