Washington DC Computer Components And Upgrades – PC Components And Upgrades, Washington DC
At this point in time, I don’t think we could even begin to imagine not using a computer at some point during our day. Whether it’s for entertainment purposes, work purposes, or school purposes, we can’t seem to go without them. Computers have become an essential part of every day life for children and adults alike, but as the user we tend not to think about what is actually going on inside our computers that is responsible for making it work. Computers are made up of many components and are in constant need of upgrade due to constant advancements in the field, and the slightest fault in one of these components could result in an extremely slow computer or one that won’t work at all.
The most important part of your computer is its motherboard. The motherboard is the place in your computer where other important components are located. Some of these components are the microprocessor, drive controllers, and memory. Your computers performance relies largely on what microprocessor you have. It is in this component where all of the instructions are received that you enter that in turn make the computer work accordingly. The most commonly used processors are Intel and AMD. Your computer’s memory or RAM (Random Access Memory) is the memory that is directly attached to the motherboard and it is what speeds up your performance. If you don’t have enough RAM your computer will try to take memory off of the hard drive, virtual memory, and it will slow down your systems speed. Other components that are directly attached to the motherboard are the sound (audio) card and video (graphics) card.
Of the components that are not attached directly to the motherboard, the hard drive if probably the most important. Your pc’s hard drive is where all of your data is permanently stored. Optical drives such as CD and DVD drives are another component to your computer. DVD drives have become more popular than CD drives these days because DVD’s can hold more data than CD’s. And even more that DVD’s, people are using USB thumb drives to store data because they are small, portable, and can hold higher amounts of data.
The last components to consider are the external components such as your monitor, keyboard, mouse, and speakers. Without these you wouldn’t be able to use your computer at all.
